About the only good thing that can be said about the Kewaunee Power Station closing is that it will play out slowly.

The nuclear power plant on the Lake Michigan shore, nine miles south of Kewaunee, is scheduled to stop producing electricity at noon May 7. Owner Dominion Resources Inc., after failing to sell the power plant, decided to decommission it.

In a filing with the state Department of Workforce Development, Dominion said 202 of 632 workers are scheduled to be laid off at the end of May. Those layoffs will be followed with 56 more by June 30, 46 more by July 31, 31 more between August and ...
