Suicide prevention program offered

The Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Awareness Committee of Portage County will sponsor free QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training at 6 p.m. May 30 at the Portage County Public Library, 1001 Main St.

Michelle Nelson, licensed clinical social worker from Ministry Saint Michael's Hospital, will present the program, which is designed for the general public to enhance awareness and teach the warning signs of suicide. Participants will learn three basic intervention skills that can help avert the tragedy of suicide.
