We are beginning an exciting era at McMillan Library.
In the next few weeks, construction will begin on our Youth Services Remodeling Project. The project will include new carpeting, a new ceiling, new lighting, a new story hour/activity area, a computer area for older children, a children's garden and lots of cozy areas for parents, grandparents and children to enjoy the library's books and other resources together.
During construction, some materials for children will be available in the adult room.
The remodeling project was designed by architect Rhys MacPherson of Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle of Minneapolis. This work will be done by Altmann Construction Co. of Wisconsin Rapids. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of June.
WoodTrust-Bell Foundation is donating $75,000, and the Mead Witter Foundation Inc. is donating $22,500 to the project. Total construction and furniture costs will be about $280,000. A grand opening will be announced when the project is complete.
Upcoming Family Fun Nights will feature musician Skip Jones on May 7 and magician Wayne the Wizard on May 21. Popular family films will be shown Tuesday and May 14 and 28. All of these family programs begin at 6:30 p.m.
