Historic farmhouse transformed into welcome center

The latest addition to Pinecrest Historical Village is bittersweet for Mike Maher.

"This is by far the biggest project I've worked on here," said Maher of the newly opened McAllister House welcome center. "It's consumed my life for a number of years."

Maher helped breathed new life in to the building, believed to be the oldest standing farmhouse in Manitowoc County. It will be open to the public for the first time when Pinecrest kicks off its 2013 season on Wednesday. ...
