Practice-squad G Joe Gibbs released

Apr. 29, 2013

The Green Bay Packers cleared more room on their roster on Monday with the release of first-year guard Joe Gibbs.

A first-year player out of Tennessee-Martin, the 6-foot-4, 315-pound was on Green Bay’s practice squad for the final six regular-season games and both playoff games last season.

The Packers' roster stood at 76 players following the NFL draft last weekend with the team also signing at least 10 undrafted free agents to its roster, leaving them with four slots heading into next week's rookie orientation.

The release of Gibbs, who entered the NFL as a non-drafted free agent with the St. Louis Rams in June 2010, would leave the Packers with five spots available to sign players attending the rookie orientation on a tryout basis.
