Wausau East senior in running for Presidential Scholars award

Brady Becker lauded for his academic excellence in face of adversity

A Wausau East High School student is one of 10 semifinalists from Wisconsin for a 2013 Presidential Scholars award, the nation's highest honor for graduating high school seniors.

Brady G. Becker, 18, downplays the honor, though. He has a 4.0 grade point average and earned a 29 on the ACT college entrance exam, a very good score on a test that has a top score of 36. But it was Becker's ability to maintain academic excellence in the face of adversity that earned him consideration for the prestigious award.
