Willie Doll of Amherst and Sarah Poirier of Wausau West were winners of the Gannett Central Wisconsin Media boys and girls athletes of the year in 2012.

Doll is now a baseball player at St. Mary's University in Winona, Minn., and Poirier runs on the cross country and track and field teams at Marquette University.

Each has experienced success in their first college seasons. ...
