Bellin Health acquired NEWisconsin MRI Center and takes over operations Wednesday.

Bellin will retain the MRI center at 1241 Lombardi Access Road in Ashwaubenon. The center is home to an open scanner, which is helpful to patients with claustrophobia and who have larger bodies. The center at 2141 Lime Kiln Road will be closed.

Amy Dettman, vice president of Bellin Medical Group, said the open scanner will be upgraded with a larger magnet, which will provide better resolution of scans.

Bellin operates four MRI scanners in the Green Bay metro area.

NEWisconsin, which was founded in 1987, is now known as Bellin Health MRI. NEWiscsonsin had 16 employees. Dettman said some remained with Bellin and the organization assisted others in trying to find jobs.

Bellin will retain records from NEWisconsin. They are available by calling (920) 445-7001. Appointments can be made by calling (920) 445-7000.
