Oshkosh Symphony names managing director

The Oshkosh Symphony Orchestra is happy to announce the appointment of a new managing director who began her duties April 1. Miyoko Grine-Fisher accepted the position following a selection process that attracted several applicants and involved interviewing and reference checks. Ms. Grine-Fisher is a faculty member at Lawrence University and the Lawrence Academy of Music. She serves as the summer camp director at the Lawrence Academy of Music's Chamber Odyssey. She is a cellist with the Green Bay Symphony, Fox Valley Symphony, and the Oshkosh Symphony Orchestras. In addition, she operates her own business as the proprietor of the Grine-Fisher Cello Studio.

The manging director position has been made possible through a grant to the Oshkosh Symphony Orchestra from the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation. The Oshkosh Symphony is a professional orchestra that has educated and entertained audiences for more than 70 years. A 21 member all-volunteer working board oversees the Symphony. Upcoming concerts include the June 1 "Theater Music at the Grand Opera House" and the Sept. 7 "Honoring Our Heroes" concert at the Leach Amphitheater featuring Vic Ferrari with the Oshkosh Symphony. Ticketr for the June 1 concert are now available through the Grand Opera House Ticket Office.
