Paddleboard meet expected to draw hundreds

Paddleboard surfers will return to Sheboygan as part of the Midwest Stand Up Paddleboard Championship and Festival Series. Last year's race drew about 100 contestants. Organizers expect that number to at least double when the event takes place in June.

The Midwest Stand Up Paddleboard Championship and Festival Series will make a stop in Sheboygan for the second straight year.

Expedition Outdoor Supply will run the event on June 22 at North Beach, which will feature two races: a recreational and "elite" race. Those participating in the elite competition can earn points as part of the World Paddle Association series.

Mike Miller, owner of EOS, said the races last year drew about 100 participants from as far away as Michigan, Indiana and Iowa. He anticipates doubling or tripling the number of contestants this year. ...
