The American Red Cross assisted two Wisconsin Rapids brothers who were displaced Tuesday evening after a fire destroyed their home on the city's west side, a Fire Department official said.

Christian Crump owns the house where he and his brother, Charles, lived at 431 Seventh Ave. S., Capt. Bob Barteck said, noting a train carrying coal delayed the arrival of the closer of two fire engines that responded to the report of a structure fire at 5:16 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Seventh Avenue and Goggins Street.
