Keta Steebs in many ways was larger than life herself, and yet her talent was in capturing the spirit of the lives around her. This was a storyteller.

Steebs, 88, died quietly in her sleep early Friday, a day and a half after celebrating her birthday with family and friends at a reception for a dear friend's photography exhibit.

In fragile health for several years, the longtime Door County Advocate reporter and columnist had a way of rallying for the occasion, as when she was inducted into the Milwaukee Press Club's Media Hall of Fame in October. There she was feted as a pioneer for being one of ...
