For one night at least, unheralded Central Michigan University stood atop the college football world.

That night was Thursday, April 25, when Chippewas offensive tackle Eric Fisher was chosen "with the first pick in the 2013 NFL draft" (cue the ESPN tape of Commissioner Roger Goodell).

Seeing the No. 1 draftee come out of a lower-profile, mid-major program from the Mid-American Conference was a source of pride and a boost in stature for the Central Michigan family, which includes assistant coach Kevin "Butch" Barry, formerly of Sturgeon Bay.
