The Gibraltar Historical Association of Fish Creek will kick off the 2013 "Gibraltar Talks" program series on May 9 with a program called "Nature's Heritage Preserved." This history/nature related program will be held a 7 p.m. at the old Gibraltar Town Hall located on the corner of Spruce and Maple Streets in Fish Creek.

Speaker Tim Stone, president of the Door County Land Trust, will show and tell about the importance of preserving historic and natural areas of Door County. A question-and-answer period will follow,

Stoneand his wife purchased property on Moonlight Bay in 1980 and moved to Door County full time in 2005. Since 1986 more than 6,500 acres in almost every corner of Door County and its islands have been preserved.

These "Special Places" represent the finest open spaces and wild places our county has to offer. From small natural sanctuaries hidden within our villages, to miles of scenic open vistas along rural roadways, to thousands of acres of critical wildlife habitat, Door County has saved irreplaceable treasures. These ecological and scenic treasures will be enjoyed for generations to come.

Copies of the book "A Guide to the Places We Protect" will be available for purchase.

Gibraltar Talks programs are free and open to the public, sponsored by the Gibraltar Historical Association of Fish Creek. For more information, call (920) 868-9335.
