Energy efficiency helps Ashwaubenon schools cut costs

Ashwaubenon schools are saving money while helping to save the environment.

An energy conservation program has saved the district more than $278,000 through a 15.7 percent reduction in energy use in the past three years, officials said. The changes are equal to 329 passenger cars being removed from the road or 46,828 trees being planted.

"It's something that is important to the district," said Hank Schmitt, energy education specialist. "Being good stewards of both our money and our environment gives us a great sense of satisfaction." ...
