College honors

? Jenny Christl, a biology major, was named to the fall 2012 dean's list at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Md. Christl, a Green Bay Preble graduate, is the daughter of Davide and Jean Christl, Green Bay.

? Jessica Kope, a student at Jamestown (N.D.) College, from De Pere, was inducted into Alpha Chi, a national college honor scholarship society, and was named a College Fellow in Nursing.

? Edward Ley, a junior majoring in specialized administration, from Green Bay, played Frank Strang in Lakeland College's production of "Equus."

? Breanna Fabry, a computer science major, was named to the fall 2012 dean's list at Carroll University, Waukesha. The 2011 De Pere High School graduate is the daughter of Dan and Lori Fabry, De Pere.

? Art work by graduate student Eric Roman Beining, De Pere, was featured in University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts Spring Exhibition in April.

? Sacha Turner, an accounting student at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College named a 2013 New Century Scholar for her grades, leadership and campus activities. Turner will receive a $2,000 scholarship.

? Marc Shield, Green Bay, received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Elmhurst (Ill.) College.

High school honors

? Green Bay East High School students took home five journalism awards, received at the Northeastern Wisconsin Scholastic Press Association Conference at UW Oshkosh on April 17. The awards recognized the school newspaper, Hi-Light, which is advised by Susan Carlson. In the writing division, Evan Ash took first for Editorial and second for Column-Humorous; Blake Jelinski took first for Reviews and Joe Westenberg took second for Column-Serious. The Hi-Light newspaper earned Red Ribbon Honors for large-sized schools in the publication division. The newspaper is produced outside of a journalism class.
