Letter: Food contamination is questioned

Editor: During Easter break and snowstorms, Congress passed legislation that allows Monsanto and other genetically modified seed makers protection against any legal repercussions for contaminating foods or the environment. This was slipped in as a rider to HR933, the Farmer Assurance Provision.

These companies also fought any attempt to label their products, called "Frankenfoods" by some. If they are so wonderful, why hide them? For more information, go to www.fooddemocracynow.org, geoengineeringwatch.org or centerforfoodsafety.org.

Good books are "Seeds of Destruction" by William Engdahl, "Seeds of Deception" by Jeffrey Smith, and "Your Right to Know" by A. Kimbrell.

Then in March, the International Dairy Foods Association petitioned the FDA to add aspartame to milk products (yogurts, cream, eggnog and common dairy products) to possibly boost sales. Dr. Oz brought this up on a recent program. His view was "Why would anyone add chemicals to a perfectly good, nutritious food?" There is a petition FDA-20090P-0147 at www.regulations.gov. There are already more than 100,000 signatures against this move.

There is another good source of information on farmers, food and what's really going on. Doreen Hannes is from Wisconsin, now living in Missouri. She's constantly fighting for farmers. She can be found at www.truthfarmerwordpress.com. She mentions often the Codex Alimentatius (global food imperialism or control of food). Never heard of it? That's what they want.
