Touchmark on Wednesday announced a $9.8 million expansion and remodeling project, which will add 31,430 square feet to the facility and expand services offered at the retirement community.

The company in a statement said a $7.2 million one-story addition will offer support for people living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementia illnesses as well as those needing enhanced assisted living care. The existing community will undergo an extensive $2.6 million renovation.

The expansion is expected to create 35 new jobs once completed in late 2014.
