Softball: Howards Grove sparks past Random Lake

Howards Grove's softball team used powerful offense to surge past Random Lake in a Central Lakeshore Conference doubleheader sweep on Wednesday.

The Tigers notched 14 hits in a 12-2 win in Game 1, and got nearly as much offense - 13 hits - in a 13-3 win in the follow-up.

The first game was close early - both teams were tied 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning. But that's when Sam Black smashed a bases-clearing triple, and Sarah Scheiber hit a two-run double to break the game open. Howards Grove (5-5, 5-2 CLC) scored seven runs in the bottom of the inning, and cruised the rest of the way. ...
