Volunteers are needed for the Join Hands Day event beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at Maywood, 3615 Mueller Road. Join Hands Day is a nationwide event which brings young people and adults together, and brings the process of developing understanding and trust across the generations.

The East Sheboygan County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is sponsoring this year's activity at Maywood. Participants will help plant trees, perform trail work and remove invasive species from the park. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a pair of work gloves, but extra gloves will be available to borrow. The day will conclude around noon with a lunch served by Thrivent volunteers.

Individuals, organizations and companies are encouraged to participate. Pre-registration is appreciated to assist with the food count. For more information or to register a group, please contact Maywood at 920-459-3906 or email Maywood Volunteer Coordinator Cindy Van Akkeren at cindy.vanakkeren@ci.sheboygan.wi.us.
