The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will host hundreds of the state's top middle and high school student musicians as part of the Wisconsin School Music Association State Solo & Ensemble Festival from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Noel Fine Arts Center, College of Professional Studies building and Collins Classroom Center.

To qualify for the state festival, students earned a "starred first" rating in a Class A piece at one of 225 WSMA District Music Festivals held over the last six months. The participants, in grades six to 12, perform in a variety of instrumental, vocal solo and ensemble categories.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, go to www.wsmamusic.org.
