Before the 80 degrees and sun Wausau saw last weekend, north central Wisconsin spent most of April in a weather pattern that kept temperatures low and snow on the ground.

Temperatures were below normal for 24 of the first 25 days of April - and a good chunk of those were below normal by at least 10 degrees - and there was snow on the ground through April 17, according to monthly climate statistics from the National Weather Service in Green Bay. This month's average temperature of 38 degrees was 6 degrees colder than the typical April average.
