Before the 80 degrees and sun Wausau saw last weekend, north central Wisconsin spent most of April in a weather pattern that kept temperatures low and snow on the ground.
Temperatures were below normal for 24 of the first 25 days of April - and a good chunk of those were below normal by at least 10 degrees - and there was snow on the ground through April 17, according to monthly climate statistics from the National Weather Service in Green Bay.
