Rothschild biomass plant to open its doors in late 2013 (with video)

We Energies shareholders and Wausau-area media got an inside look this week of the construction of the $255 million Rothschild biomass plant during a preplanned tour Thursday.

The 190-foot-tall boiler that will produce electricity for We Energies and steam for Domtar paper mill will open in late 2013, and on schedule, Wisconsin Energy Corp. CEO Gale Klappa said. It also is on budget, he said. Construction on the project began in June 2011 and to date has employed 450 people, including electricians, pipe fitters and other tradesman.
