Tammy Basten has been named chancellor for the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay
She replaces the Rev. John Doerfler, who has held the position since 2005.
Basten will be responsible for ensuring that the acts of curia are drawn up and dispatched for safe keeping in the archives. She also will maintain diocesan documents and records and assist churches and diocesan agencies in canonical, liturgical and civil matters. She will oversee the Worship Office and Holy Name Retreat House as well.
Before her appointment, Basten served as director of facilities and properties, with St. Joseph Real Estate Corp of the Diocese of Green Bay, working as a resource to churches in relation to their properties, facilities and cemeteries.
Doerfler will continue in his role as vicar general and part-time duties supervising the Canonical Services Department. He will also become a part-time lecturer at Sacred Heart Seminary in Hales Corners.
