Green Bay Preble will honor Jack Drankoff and Pat Prochnow at an afternoon dedication May 18 by renaming its track and football field after the two long-time coaches.

The idea had been talked about before Drankoff died last year, but it came to fruition after Joe Backmann, a teacher at Washington Middle School and a former athlete under both Drankoff and Prochnow, placed a call to Preble.

He saw how De Pere honored former track and field and cross-country coach Dan Baker by renaming its track after him before he died from cancer in 2012, and Backmann thought the idea would be great at Preble. ...
