Carlton town government faces uncertain future

As the Kewaunee Power Station nears shutdown, town of Carlton officials are groping for answers to critical questions.

The nuclear plant closing is going to leave the town with a sizable hole in its budget, and town officials say a lack of information from the state Department of Revenue is leaving questions unanswered.

"Every time we talk to the Department of Revenue, they don't know. We are like guinea pigs," said Linda Sinkula, Carlton town clerk. "Everything is so up in the air at this point, we can't confirm anything." ...
