For girls who may be interested in attending summer camp, Camp Evelyn, W6598 Camp Evelyn Road, Plymouth, is holding its I Love Camp Evelyn Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, to provide more information about summer opportunities at the campground.

Participants can attend for the entire day or a part of the day. In the morning, they will perform trail maintenance and paint or create play areas. All materials will be provided. Lunch will include a free camp cookout with stories, memories and songs. The afternoon will include camp tours and activities.

Girls who camp at Camp Evelyn experience swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and hiking, plus other traditional camp activities like singing, crafts, and making s'mores.

Girls also participate in contemporary camp activities like scientific pond studies, environmental service projects, trail running, and learning forest management and how to live lightly on the land.

Camp Evelyn is for all girls entering grades 1-12 in the fall regardless if a girl is a Girl Scout or not.

Girl Scouts of Manitou is the largest girl-serving organization in the Lake Michigan western shoreline area.
