Travelers spent more than $100 million in Portage County in 2012, according to figures released Friday by the Wisconsin Department of Tourism.
Travel expenditures reached $100.3 million in Portage County in 2012, an increase of $2 million - or just about 2 percent - over the $98.3 million spent in 2011. Tourism also generated $13.7 million in state and local taxes, and $8.7 million in federal taxes in 2012, up slightly from the previous year.
