In life we all are faced with decisions which test our ethics and moral judgment. Our decisions can make life for others either good or bad.
Here in Saratoga, our quality of life hangs in the balance. If approved, the CAFO will change our way of life forever. Our air with the smell of the pines will turn to the smell of manure. The water quality in our wells will slide down an unhealthy slope, that's if there's enough water to use. Our property values are already going down, hurting all of us financially. Try selling your property or home in Saratoga.
Our way of life as we know it will be gone. There are good, sound zoning decisions and simply bad decisions. It's not in my backyard; why should I care? Because it's not your backyard today, but it'll be yours tomorrow.
A business that sues our town to do business has lost its moral compass. All businesses should be a friend of the community; it's the right thing to do.
I have a simple request to the farm family. Please look into your heart and soul and ask yourself, is this the right thing to do? Do you really want to crush the dreams and way of life of all the citizens of Saratoga?
I hope and pray that your heart will send you in the right direction. I hope you care enough about all of us to do the right thing.
