After watching President Obama vent recently about his gun control bill failing in the Senate, again blaming everyone in sight, it left me wishing that he had that much passion about passing a budget that balances our out-of-control debt instead of keeping on spending the people's money ("Gun Control Blocked," April 18).
The president's budget only adds to the $16 trillion-plus deficit (6 of it his) and could hit $20 trillion by the end of his term in office. Should our children and their children shoulder that burden?
My heart always goes out to anyone losing life in senseless killings, but please think about putting people in schools with the right to carry a gun and make idiots think twice about going there with the intent to kill. People who look to kill look for the least resistance (the movie theater was a gun-free zone) to do their evil deeds.
The laws to try to take guns away will never stop criminals because they could care less about those laws and will find guns on the black market. I think people should have the guns they own locked up so only the one with the key can get to them, a good place to start!
So please President Obama, start being a leader in Washington, fix the problems with the budget and get people back to work, fix Obamacare (Max Baucus, a Democrat said last week he thinks it is headed for a "train wreck.") and loosen the regulations on small businesses and stop campaigning and complaining. And if you care about saving one life as you say, let's look at abortion which kills many more. Life is precious.
