The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 101 met recently.

The following members were elected as officers: Tom Sachs, president; Ray McSherry, vice president; Gary Schoenborn, secretary; and Jim Stack, treasurer. Tom Heiser was appointed Sergeant of Arms.

Orange Blossoms have been ordered and will be distributed June 7 and 8. It can't be emphasized how important this effort is to the work we are able to do for local veterans and our community. The orange blossom represents Agent Orange and the sacrifices made by the Vietnam veteran. We need members to work as many shifts as they can between the two days. Please sign up at the meeting or call Tom Sachs at 715-423-8445 and let him know when you can work.

The following members went to The Highground Veterans Memorial Park in Neillsville for spring cleanup: Dale Peters, Jim Michels, Sachs and Schoenborn. Chapter members were honored with a special ceremony by the students and teachers at Mead Elementary Charter School.

The color guard will participate at the Veterans Reunion in Grand Rapids Lions park on May 18. We will also be at the Wood County Courthouse at 11 a.m. May 24 and the Memorial Day services May 27 at 9 a.m. in Nekoosa, 10 a.m. in Port Edwards and 11 a.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Today, will host a brat fry at the Baker Street IGA. Our next meeting is at 7 p.m. May 10 at The BAR. For more information on the Vietnam Veterans of America, call Gary at 715-325-6881.
