? Jason Bartel, pool designer and salesman, has joined Pool Works.

? Peninsula Players Theatre, Fish Creek, has hired Danielle Kapolnek as development and events coordinator. Kapolnek worked as administrative intern one season, and another season as assistant box office manager. Kapolnek is a St. Norbert College graduate with majors in business administration and theater. She has experience working backstage as a theater technician and in the box office.

? Orthopedic physician Clay Canaday recently joined ThedaCare Orthopedics Plus at ThedaCare Physicians-Shawano. Board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery, Dr. Canaday earned his undergraduate degree at Loyola University in Chicago and received his medical degree at the University of Health Sciences/College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Mo.

? Bill Gould and Chris Lamal have joined Financial Consulting Services, Green Bay. Both recently were employed by Morgan Stanley. Gould has more than 40 years experience in the financial industry; Lamal has more than 14 years experience.

Certification

? Attorney Michele McKinnon, of the law firm Conway, Olejniczak & Jerry, Green Bay, has earned national certification in Creditors Rights Law from the American Board of Certification.

? Jessica Bostwick and Sharon Kowalkowski have achieved recertification as Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurses. Bostwick is Unity's manager of access and quality; Kowalkowski provides care to patients at Unity's Jack and Engrid Meng Residence in De Pere.

Education

? Tara DaPra, part of the UW-Marinette English faculty who also teaches at UW-Green Bay, has written a craft essay, "Writing Memoir and Writing for Therapy: An Inquiry on the Functions of Reflection," published in the Spring issue of Creative Nonfiction. Her poem, "Six Months in Ballymun, Ireland," will appear in Sheepshead Review, the literary journal published at UW-Green Bay.

Awards

? Lawrence Jacques, a 1972 graduate of Premontre High School, Green Bay, received a Service Award from the Marquette University College of Engineering, where he earned his engineering degree. Jacques is executive vice president and co-owner of Sargent & Lundy, in Chicago.

? Plan Administrators, De Pere, received a U.S. Chamber of Commerce Blue Ribbon Small Business Award for the eighth consecutive year. The award recognizes companies that have contributed to job creation and growing the economy.

? Shipyard Marine in Suamico won the Mercury Marine Service Award five years in a row.

? Raymond Weiss, director of mission services of Felician Village, Manitowoc, received the Catholic Health Association's Tomorrow's Leaders award. Weiss is one of 10 young professionals selected for this national award in 2013.
