Glass Slipper Project provides free prom dresses for Chicago area girls

Imagine not being able to attend prom because the cost of a dress is more than you or your family can afford. Now imagine the joy of being told you can go shopping for a prom dress and accessories at a special boutique free of charge. That's what has happened for more than 17,000 girls in the Chicago area since the Glass Slipper Project was begun in 1999, according to the organization's website.

The Lasallian Youth at Roncalli High School recently collected an estimated several dozen dresses for the effort, as well as some shoes, purses and jewelry. Roncalli has participated in the Glass Slipper ...
