Impact of sequester far reaching

From housing vouchers for the poor to Head Start programs to developing better ways to predict dangerous weather events, the federal sequester may have widespread impacts across Wisconsin.

The sequester is a $1.2 trillion package of mandatory across-the-board cuts over the next 10 years that Congress and President Obama agreed to enact if they failed to reach a deal on the federal debt. The sides could not agree on budget cuts or additional revenues aimed to reduce the debt, so sequestration officially took effect March 1.
