A mock traffic crash will be set up at Merrill High School beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The event is designed to highlight the dangers of distracted driving for students.

The Merrill Police Department, Merrill Fire Department and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department and others will create the simulated traffic crash near Jay Stadium. The simulation will begin with a prerecorded video that will be shown in the school. When the video concludes, the students will go out to the scene to see the "results" of the crash.

A crash simulator also will be available for students and staff to try out.
