Standout nearly didn't come out for the sport as a freshman

Wausau West's Deschaine finished ninth in the 300 meter hurdles at the WIAA state meet last year and is enjoying a stellar senior spring. The Warriors will compete in the City Meet today at Wausau West.

Hailey Deschaine was on the fence about going out for the track team in her freshman year at Wausau West, and it was with some gentle encouragement from her parents that she finally decided to continue the sport that she had been involved with since her elementary days.

The decision has paid off for both Deschaine and the Warriors, as the senior has overcome any reservations of the sport she had early in her prep career and become a standout hurdler and jump specialist for a talented and deep West girls team.
