Students roll out wrestling mats along a mirrored wall Tuesday night in the Quandt Fieldhouse loft, the sounds of pick-up games of basketball piercing the otherwise quiet room.

Judo instructors Tom Gustin and Jim Weidner take turns demonstrating techniques, twisting themselves with balance as the other person lands on the ground with a hard smack. The other students, all wearing white uniforms with different colored belts signifying their rank, follow suit.
