Letter: Online book clubs could be a bad idea

We depend too much on technology

EDITOR: I have mixed feelings about public libraries having online book clubs. I don't like the idea because too much now is online. Why should we encourage our youth to sit in an online video chat room for an hour by themselves? Too many people are going to depend on technology and no one is going to do stuff for themselves.

I'm not saying I don't like technology. I do. But people are just depending on it too much. The public library should have more real book clubs so people get out of the house and interact with other people.

But on the flip side, the online book club could also be a good thing if people are too shy to go out. It might make people read more, and it could help kids discuss the book.
