Wisconsin Rapids woman scammed out of nearly $2,000

A 35-year-old man authorities say scammed a Wisconsin Rapids woman out of $1,900 has been charged in Wood County Circuit Court with two counts of theft.

Wood County Circuit Judge Greg Potter issued a warrant Monday for Dennis G. Dupee Jr., whose address is listed as unknown in court documents. If convicted of the two misdemeanor theft counts, Dupee faces a maximum of 11/2 years in jail.

According to the criminal complaint, a Wisconsin Rapids woman contacted authorities and told them she had been communicating with a former acquaintance, Dupee. ...
