Noreen Lake, left, member of Pillars of Honor, receives a $100 check from Amvets Post 51 Commander Bob Gamble; post member and State Hospital Chairman for Amvets Ken Wendt; and post member Dave Thostensen on April 20 during a visit to the Veterans Home in King. Amvets Post 51 went to see the model of the World War II Memorial on loan with Pillars of Honor Inc. The model was the original shown to Congress when the memorial was proposed before it was built in Washington, D.C. All of the World War II veterans at King were honored at the showing. The money is for the Pillars group to continue future showings.
