It appeared to be business as usual for most, if not all, of the handful of government agencies and 130 U.S. banks and credit unions targeted for Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks Tuesday.

"Financial institutions understand that cyber security issues such as DDoS are the new normal and are beginning to treat these incidents as status quo," says Chip Tsantes, a financial services principal at Ernst & Young.
