After 50 years, the Bay Area Humane Society no longer is the place to go looking for lost dogs or cats in Green Bay.

The Green Bay City Council voted Tuesday to award a new contract for stray animal services to Packerland Veterinary Center on the city's west side.

The action followed heartfelt testimonials from pet owners loyal to the humane society, and a contentious debate among aldermen about breaking ties with a longstanding community partner. ...
