Standoff with FdL man ends peacefully

Two people at a Fond du Lac apartment complex were taken into custody without incident Thursday morning following a three-hour standoff with police.

Police were called to Countryside Apartments at 900 Security Drive at 5:38 a.m. for a report of a suicidal man inside, said Capt. Jon Gutzmann.

Assistant Chief Steve Thiry said the 24-year-old man called a crisis hotline and told operators he was feeling depressed and had access to weapons. An 18-year-old woman who had no involvement with the incident was also in the apartment, Thiry said. The man and ...
