BELLEVUE - Costco on Thursday picked up its building permit from the village of Bellevue, which means construction is officially underway for the warehouse store scheduled to open in late October.

The 150,000-square foot, $10.2 million store will be on County GV near U.S. 172.

Community Development Director Andrew Vissers said the village will begin $2.5 million in infrastructure construction May 20. He said Costco's first project will be to put in fill dirt, after which the site will sit for about 30 days while the fill is drained and compacted.

Work on rebuilding County GV will begin May 13. Vissers said drivers should avoid that area as much as possible.

"It will be open to traffic, but it will be down to one lane," he said.
