Letter: Conservative court would respect life

I wonder how many voters notice the similarity between what led up to the World Trade Center bombing in September 2011 and the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013.

During his administration, President Bill Clinton cut back spending to the military, the CIA and the FBI, a move that helped the economy and made him look good. Those cutbacks helped enable several overseas bombings without significant retribution making the United States look like a paper tiger, ending with the World Trade Center bombing in 2011.

President Barack Obama not only cut back on military spending, but also cut 45 percent of the $20 million President George W. Bush set up for Homeland Security, leaving only $11 million in that fund. The lack of retribution for Benghazi and Fast and Furious gun sales to the Mexican drug cartel, again make the United States look like a paper tiger. Obama and most Democrats seem to think that passing new gun control laws will somehow make criminals and the mentally ill obey them.

I believe the real reason this country is being attacked is our lack of respect for life. If a mother can legally kill her unborn children, why would you not expect some of her children already born not kill someone they don't like or agree with? I also believe that when the Supreme Court struck down the sodomy laws, and created new laws as in Roe v. Wade and affirmative action, this started our country toward its present immoral condition.

Nothing will change until we have a solid conservative Supreme Court. A conservative court will only be achieved when we have a conservative president and senate in office long enough to make those court changes.

In the meantime I suggest staying away from large crowds. I find it strange that Obama spoke to a large crowd at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston just days after the Boston bombing without knowing if it was a major terrorist attack or did he know? I would think the president's first concern would be our country, not his own legacy.
