Master potter and Door County arts pioneer Abe Cohn died Friday. He was 88.

Cohn, who owned and operated Potters Wheel Gallery, opened his first summer studio in Fish Creek in 1956 when he moved to the peninsula with his wife, Ginka, who preceded him in death May 7, 2011.

He was a teacher and mentor to the Door County arts community and played an integral role in creation of the Door County Potters Guild in 1976.

Arrangements are pending through Casperson Funeral Home in Sister Bay.
