Appleton Papers appears to be moving forward with changing its name to Appvion.

New signs were visible on the company's headquarters at 825 E. Wisconsin Ave. in Appleton on Thursday.

The company, which employs 870 people in Appleton, did not comment on the new signage but said a formal annoumcent was coming Monday.

The company in July 2012 announced a $675 million deal to merge with Dallas-based Hicks Acquisition Co. was dropped citing volitile market conditions. A part of that process included renaming the company Appvion, which the company has said is a combination of the words "applied" and "innovation," to reflect its evolution from a papermaker to a company that will focus on coating formulations.
