May 10, 1939 - Destroy rural mail boxes at Suamico: Sheriff's officers are investigating the wanton destruction of 17 rural mail boxes in the town of Suamico Monday night, principally along County Trunk M, and have reported the matter to postal authorities.

Tire tracks showed that the boxes had been deliberately knocked down, apparently with a light automobile, which was driven off the road to break off each post by striking it with the front bumper. At one point, the tracks showed, the car almost had been driven into the ditch. Boxes mounted on the edge of the fill, where they could not be "straddled," were unharmed, except for one which was struck on the side.

In addition to the loss of the post and the labor of setting it, many of the boxes were wrecked beyond repair, according to Undersheriff Andrew Lom, and the owners told him they represented a cost of around $5 each.
