De Pere police are investigating an "event" that may have compromised the De Pere School District's computer system, leading to a weeklong shutdown.

Authorities will not say whether the system was hacked or what sort of information may have been exposed. The system went back online Wednesday.

Police said they will release information when the investigation is completed.

District superintendent Ben Villarruel said teachers and staff worked well through the shutdown and that things are running smoothly.
