Xai Kha/Wausau Daily Herald Public employees pickup some large items during April's cleaning along Ethel Street in Wausau Monday afternoon, April 25, 2011.
EDITOR: While I like the idea of the spring large item pick-up in the Wausau area, I do not appreciate the antics of some of the treasure pickers who seem to grow in number each year. I do not put items on the curb to be picked up with a sign saying, "Feel free to take what you want - and please scatter the rest across my front lawn."
My son Bradford placed a television set on the curb. A woman came by shortly after and, using a screwdriver, removed the back of the television set and took the parts she apparently needed to finish building a spaceship or something equally important. She left in a great hurry, leaving the remainder of the television set in a pile of rubble in our front yard for us to clean up.
Our entire family felt violated. If you wanted only certain parts, take the entire set and throw the rest in your own front yard. Please don't come by next year.
